What can personal training help you work toward?

Your goals might include getting up from a chair more comfortably, carrying groceries, keeping up on a trip, or feeling steadier during everyday activities. A useful program starts with what matters to you, rather than assuming everyone of the same age needs the same workout.

Strength and balance exercises can support everyday function and help reduce fall risk. The National Institute on Aging describes these benefits in its guide to physical activity. That is general health guidance, not a guarantee of any individual’s results.

How does Ellen adapt training to you?

Ellen is a NASM-certified personal trainer and Corrective Exercise Specialist with 16 years of experience coaching clients ages 8–92. Her approach is to build sessions around your body, goals, available space, and how you are feeling. Some days that may mean chair-supported movement; other days you may be ready for more challenging strength work.

What if you are nervous about starting?

You do not need to arrive fit or know exercise terminology. Tell Ellen what you would like to do more easily, what has made exercise difficult, and any guidance from your healthcare team. The first session is about meeting you where you are. The aim is coaching that feels encouraging and appropriately challenging.

Personal training complements medical and physical-therapy care. If you have a new balance problem, recent fall, or a condition that affects exercise, discuss appropriate activity and precautions with your healthcare professional.

Frequently asked questions

Can I start personal training in my 70s, 80s, or 90s?

Age alone does not determine the right workout. Ellen has coached clients up to age 92 and adapts sessions to individual abilities and goals. Discuss medical conditions or activity restrictions with your healthcare professional so you can bring relevant guidance to your consultation.

What if I have not exercised in years?

You can begin the conversation wherever you are now. Ellen works with people who are new to exercise or returning after a break, and builds sessions around their current abilities rather than expecting them to keep up with a standard routine.

What equipment or space do I need at home?

You need enough clear space to move. Ellen brings the necessary equipment for in-home sessions. Tell her about your available space and any mobility needs during the consultation so you can discuss a suitable setup.

Can my spouse or a friend train with me?

Yes. Semi-private training lets you share a session while receiving coaching adapted to each person. You do not need to have the same fitness level or goals.

What does in-home personal training cost?

Individual training is $90 per hour, with packages reducing the rate to $80–$87 per hour. Training time is redeemable in 15-minute increments. See the rates page for package details and policies.
