I had been going to group exercise classes for many years and enjoyed the class and the other participants but I kept getting nagging injuries. My Dr. suggested I try personal training vs group. Specifically, someone who would watch my form while I worked out. My wife was already working out with someone named "Ellen" and suggested I have a lesson or two with her too.
One or two lessons morphed into several years. Having a personal lesson differs from a group lesson as it gives to time to talk and get to know your trainer. Ellen provided not only the training but also "a bond" which of learning from each other about life, health, cooking and multiple of other subjects. Our daughter in DC also joined in via Zoom and has classes with Ellen too. I think Ellen with extensive educational background can train about anyone. Her clients as I know of them range in ages from 90s to 30s and that's a skill many people don't have.
So I feel that Kansas City's loss is Arizona's gain. I am one who doesn't enjoy being in the basement with a bunch of machines solo and Ellen made the perfect link to get me moving, get out of the house and exercising. Without any reservation I recommend and encourage anyone to meet and workout with Ellen DeVore.
Ellen provides superb personal fitness training for clients of all ages. I had the privilege of working out with her twice a week for 10 years before her move to Arizona. She worked to ensure that I was always challenged, adapting to any constraints that injuries or health might create on occasion. We began working out with Ellen in small group classes in 2012. During Covid we switched to virtual classes and for the past three years she has trained us in our home.
Ellen is a wonderful person, and we have enjoyed getting to know her on a personal level. She is passionate about fitness and her energy and creativity is compelling.
Over the years our fitness goals have fluctuated, and Ellen is always willing to accommodate. This year we focused on core strength and flexibility and noticed an improvement with our golf game. We are happier and healthier because of Ellen and grateful to have her by our side. We were sad to see her leave Kansas City (and will especially miss her cookies) but looking forward to continuing our training sessions with her virtually.
